Proofs Back Round Two!

We received the latest proof today and the issues we had originally spotted on the cover have been fixed. Nothing else was found to be incorrect on the first one so everything is now good to go for the upcoming November release of the fourth full expansion for True Agenda!

In other news, the writing and art for the upcoming 5E Adventure was completed and now the commissioned map to be used has been submitted for review. The editing will begin in the coming week or so and we are still on track for a December release of this pay-what-you-want title.

Work has also been going on with our new game system to be released in 2025. Proofs of some of the custom elements, including the dice, have come back and everyone at the studio is excited to see the progress so far! We are looking to start initial playtesting before the end of this year. While we still are not quite ready for a formal announcement of this game system, we are looking to start the initial teaser reveals in the coming month or so. As always, keep checking back here and across social media for more information.

Proofs Back... but Changes Needed

The studio received the proof copy of the True Agenda expansion, but the cover is a bit off. While everything turned out fine, the variation is not acceptable, so we have updated the files and sent them back to the printer. While this does not happen often, it is good to get these proof copies, especially since the title is not going to release until November. So, what went wrong, you might ask? Great question.

The files were uploaded without incident about two weeks ago, but the cropping of the cover somehow did not convert properly over to the cover file format. It was missed when everything was looked over, so the fault lies on our end. The printer diligently printed what was sent to them. The fix took less than 40 seconds to correct and the file sent back over. The printer will run it through their process just to ensure nothing changed when we sent the new one and then they will let us know so we can order another proof. This second proof should arrive before the end of October, so still plenty of time before release day.

The rest of the book looks great with no other issues found. We will continue to update progress here, so feel free to check back periodically.

Wrapping Up a Third!

That’s right, the staff here at the studio just finished writing our third project for the year. This one will be another one-shot style adventure for our 5E Adventures line. The project now moves on to the editing phase, and we are also having a custom map designed. For those that remember our last adventure released back in 2020, we changed the formatting a little based off of feedback and reviews we received. The new format should be easier to read and offer a bit more depth to those looking for more than just a dungeon crawl, although it can easily scratch that itch as well.

For those wondering when this will likely be released, we have it planned after the True Agenda expansion in November, likely in early December. As with our previous adventure, this new one will be available in PDF and print like most things we create. The PDF version will have a pay what you want price strategy which we know the community enjoys. Keep checking back here and across social media for more information as we closer to the release date!

Waiting on Proofs!

We received word late yesterday that the printer has approved our files, and proof copies have been ordered for the True Agenda expansion! This is exciting news as we were a bit surprised at the quick turnaround this time. Over the years we have been able to identify any potential hiccups in the print files being approved, so that has certainly helped, but even taking that into consideration, we are pleasantly surprised at the efficiency of the printer this go around.

In other news, we are assisting our good friends over at Griffon’s Lair Games in bringing some needed improvements and quantity of offerings on their YouTube and main web pages. Feel free to check them out here or drop by if you’re in the area of one of their three stores. This occurred thanks to some great conversations as well as the studio’s new direction in increasing our own online footprint. We look forward to the opportunity to grow both our brands along with potential for future endeavors in the coming year or two.

As always, keep checking this page and across social media for more updates.

Second One Completed!

We are excited to announce that the final edits for the True Agenda expansion were completed early last week. Today we finished converting art assets and prepping everything for the printer, submitting the files to them less than an hour ago! While the release date is still almost two months away, this gives us ample time to review the proof copies and make any changes. What this also means is that we can move on to the third release for the year.

Work already began on a new release for our 5E Adventures line back in August. Similar to what we offered in 2020 with the Abandoned Temple in the Witch Wood, we have a new adventure being worked on currently. While the launch in 2020 went well, we received mixed reviews for the offering. It allowed us to really take to heart what was commented on and what the studio thought. Reviews and critiques can be a mixed blessing, but we felt that we can look to make some quality-of-life improvements as well as restructure the writing to be of better value to everyone using our scenarios. Writing will begin in earnest this week now that the studio has the time, and we are getting a custom map created as well. Ideally, this one will be out before Christmas with a pay-what-you-format again.

Lunar Cycle Games now on Discord!

Hello once again. As we continue to build up our brand in anticipation for the changes coming in 2025, we have added our own Discord channel. While there is not much to do there yet, we will be building up content and looking for feedback from the community on our tabletop RPGs, both when the new core rules launch, but also with any of our previous titles. Once everyone gets a feel for how the new system will work, then we will solicit feedback on whether or not any of our existing titles would benefit from a system change. All of these things and more can be found here.

Additionally, we have updated our links on the main website landing page to take everyone straight to their site of choice rather than having to dig around in various news articles. With our increased posting, we don’t want anything getting lost as we don’t have a good sense of whether anyone really wants to dig back through our various news posts. This way, each visitor can check out what content they are interested in or might have not seen before. As always, this site will be the main source of information, but we are ensuring that other social media sites are better aligned with major announcements.

YouTube Channel is Live!

That’s right, it’s not a dream. The studio has finally put together an official YouTube channel! This was something that was discussed over the years, but there was either a lack of ideas for content or a lack of time to create content. While our offerings are still small, we did post a video today to drive hype about the upcoming new direction we plan to take for our tabletop RPG line in the future. Here is the link to the video here.

For those of you who have been following our games, we use a skill-driven D20/D6 system and all our major game releases are compatible with each other. This allows for players and game directors to use whatever they want from any of the published games to make some truly unique worlds. Starting next year however, all upcoming games will be released using the new core game rule system. Support will continue for the existing games for the foreseeable future, including the planned release of the last True Agenda expansion this Fall.

We look forward to driving more content to everyone across more social media platforms as we continue to rebrand and revision the studio. Keep checking back for more updates!

End of Summer Updates!

As Summer starts winding down and we look towards Fall, it’s also time to start getting ready for another release from our studio! Fall, specifically November, is when the studio likes to release its last project for the year, allowing everyone to settle in and enjoy the holidays. This year is no exception as the last planned expansion for the True Agenda tabletop RPG has just finished the editing process. Over the next couple of weeks, all of the final revisions, along with confirming the art and covers, will take place and we will send everything off to our printer. After that, we will review our plans for next year and start making the roadmap until the proof copy arrives. Looking everything over one last time, we will finalize the release date and have the printer send us copies to fulfill orders directly, while the rest will be handled through Drive Thru.

One of the things we are extremely excited about is the new game system we are working on and all the extra things that entails. We are considering a Kickstarter campaign to launch this new system as was mentioned before. Everyone at the studio is talking over what could be included in the Kickstarter along with potential stretch goal rewards. Of course, we also want to make sure we build up the hype for the system, which means looking at a quick start rules set along with appropriate announcements not strictly limited to here. It is a lot to review and consider, but everyone remains excited and we all feel this new rules set will be worth the work. We will have more about that to share as we get closer to the new year after the release of the True Agenda title.

As always, keep checking back here and across social media to keep up with the latest news and updates.

Adding a Domain!

As the business brand continues to shift more and more exclusively to our tabletop game design, it was decided it was well past time to pick up another domain. Effective today, lunarcyclegames.com is officially part of our brand and currently all inquiries to that site direct to our home site here. This is just one of many steps we are taking in reimaging and reimagining the business. While the studio will not completely abandon its business branding solution aspect, it has not been what has driven our studio forward over the last seven years.

So what does this all mean? So glad you asked!

Starting around this time next year, the studio plans to make some major announcements with what we will be revealing in terms of new tabletop RPG game systems. These changes will take us in a completely new direction from what everyone has come to expect from Lunar Cycle Games over the last seven years. We will be launching a whole new core rules system, along with higher quality physical game releases, and adding additional options like custom dice. We are looking to see if Kickstarter will be part of this new launch as well as other means to get our games into everyone’s hands. This is not to say we will be leaving Drive Thru, but instead just look to build more engagement and options for everyone to find our stuff easier. We also plan to expand our digital footprint across social media and test out more collaborations which, up until this point, has been difficult to manage with our small staff.

While still a year away, work has already started now to make all of this happen. Keep checking back here and across social media for more information.

A Pre-Summer Update!

Just wanted to share a little information before the studio takes a holiday weekend. The writing for the next and final planned expansion for True Agenda was completed today. All of the art has been finished as well, so it is on to the editing process. Thanks to how quickly Wasteland Saloon was completed earlier this year, this expansion is likely to be released before the end of summer. That leaves us ahead of our schedule for the year and we will have to decide if we can push out another expansion or simply get an earlier start on the new game release for next year. Another option we are looking into is to not push out anything else this year but focus on next year and getting an expansion and a new game release. Either option is viable, but the latter would ensure the game does not fall behind schedule.

We also started looking ahead into 2026. We plan on having the first expansions for both GRID (which is long overdue) and Primal Spirit. Both are in the early planning stages and preliminary cover art has already been designed for both titles. If we do push out another release, one of these titles would be the likely one chosen. Early planning is also in the works for the next full game release we plan to launch in 2027. This title would boast a new rules system and add different elements across much of the game play. It is an exciting prospect and will require extensive play testing to ensure everything works. We are also looking at how we release games to possibly change the finished product and where they are available. More information on this will be coming, but not likely this year. As always though, keep checking back here and across social media for more information.
